My First MAC

Ladies and Gentlemen, my first MAC purchase.

Last week I made the leap into MAC and I did it on a budget and for very cheap. I have heard nothing but amazing things from Beauty Gurus on YouTube about MAC’s Studio Finish Concealer, thinking that it was WAY out of my price range I did a quick search online. $16 dollars for a concealer that will make me look flawless? It either is too good to be true, or priced wrong on the website, I thought. So it was time to explore.

I arrived at my local MAC store, which was busy as usual, dragging one of my guy friends along. He survived. The service was less than desirable and the girls seemed rather annoyed that I knew exactly what I wanted, but they gave me some to test and let me tell you I felt like a million bucks. Acne scars, actual acne, circles under the eyes, ALL GONE. I was sold, no matter what the cost. But remember this is a beauty budget website, I thought watch it be $100, I would have been one sad blogger.

Grand total- $18.07 (after tax). Sold. This cannot be beat. I will only use this concealer from now on. My skin feels great and it hides those little imperfections that drive me nuts. Simply fantastic. And all on a small small budget. WIN!

Brushes Brushes Brushes

Now I must say my love for makeup brushes is very recent. Ive been into makeup for quite some time but never have I owned a set of brushes. It wasnt until I became obsessed with some very awesome beauty gurus on YouTube that did some amazing tutorials that I realized if I wanted to copy the look, I needed the tools. The first thing though that held be back from making that leap into beauty obsession was the price. Shocking.

This is a blog about being CHEAP right?

Well I asked for brushes for Christmas, and luckily they were given to me, so mine? Were free. BUT I did do some serious shopping and review reading before I made the leap into what brushes to ask for and boy am I pleased!

First and foremost if you watch YouTube videos you know that the names dropped for cosmetic brushes are Mac and Sigma. On the budget-friendly side, Sigma is your BFF, where Mac can be quite pricey. But let me show you my brushes which are just as great, surprisingly.

Pictured here are my makeup brushes by ….. Mary Kay. And let me tell you, Mary Kay is not our mother’s makeup brand anymore they are really stepping it up and these brushes are fantastic! Great aplication and wonderful control! I cannot express how much I love them. The Black pouch actually unrolls and has three compartments for your makeup. I like that but dont use it, and keep my makeup in a makeup bag instead. Fluffy and soft, easy to clean. Just perfect! And the whole set, bag included $48.00!

What Mary Kay has to say about this kit:

This luxurious makeup brush set includes a Powder Brush, Cheek Brush, Eye Definer Brush, Eye Crease Brush and Eyeliner/Eyebrow Brush – all with sleek black wooden handles. The set also includes the Mary Kay® Cosmetic Organizer bag, so you can just roll up your makeup brush collection and go! It’s even roomy enough to add your Mary Kay® Compact, lip gloss, mascara, other makeup applicators and more!

Sigma’s equivalent, or maybe Mary Kay is the equivalent to Sigma, is featured here. These brushes dont come with a case but are considered the Eye and Face set they sell on line, and are simply beautiful!  $54.00

What Sigma has to say about this kit:

Professional quality brushes for a complete makeover! The essentials you need to apply makeup to eyes and face

Large Powder – F30 – Very dense with a rounded top. Ideal to apply powder products on face and body. .
Duo Fibre – F50 – Specially designed to generate an ‘airbrushed’ finish when used to apply liquid foundation. It can also be used to apply blush, highlight shades and loose pigments.
Pencil – E30 – Precise application of color on the crease, outer corner, and upper and lower lash line. Also ideal to smudge out pencil liner.
Tapered Blending – E40 – Rounded and tapered top. Specially designed to apply and blend color on the crease. .
Eye Shading – E55 – Soft and dense with a rounded finish. Can be used to apply pressed or loose eye shadows and pigments. Ideal to build intense color on the eyelid.
Buffer – F45 – Ideal to apply mineral foundation, loose or pressed powders. Also great to buff colors and obtain a soft, blended look.

Now depending on what you want, you will know which is best for you. Both are a great value where Mac brushes can start at 20$ EACH. Knowing what you want out of your makeup routine is key. Normally I take 15 minutes and my face is complete, but add a brush and the makeup routine gets a little more creative and a lot more fancy! So how would you use your makeup brushes and what would work for you is your decision to make, and just remember, dont break the bank. Especially if these are your first brush purchases!
And after reading the reviews again online, I kind of want the Sigma ones too… why not!? They are a great price. Decisions Decisions
Bye Lovelies

Ashley Greene with Envy

Ashley Greene, pictured here and most known for her role in the Twilight saga, looks absolutely amazing. She has a mix of rich emerald greens and light mint colors to make a beautifully feathered double winged eye look. I found this image while watching YouTube beauty guru Filthy Gorgeous Makeup. I am hooked and cant wait to try this for a night out!

I have the PERFECT feathered hair piece to match 🙂 Dont have one yourself? Read this blog on how to make them! Feather Hair Pieces

Here is Natalya’s Tutorial. Enjoy!
